Coimbatore: A project for gift insulin pumps to 50 children is underprivileged with type-1 diabetes launched at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Monday.
Four machines are given to children in the first stage of the drive under the thuling project.
Each machine costs around Rs 2.20 lakh.
Effective machines significantly reduce blood sugar levels, said Dr.
Krishnan Swaminathan from Idhayangal charity trust, which has supported the project.
“This project will help children who need insulin every day.
Children with type -1 diabetes must take insulin four times a day for the rest of their lives.
This project will help them keep their blood sugar levels under control,” he said age early.
“Even though parents decejected after finding children diabetes, such children can live a normal life with insulin support like normal children,” he added.
