Thanjavur: When there is a long queue to get a vaccine throughout the state, a family encourages people to get Jab by offering free rice in a small village in Thanjavur.
Launching the initiative on Monday, the AKRNAI (AKR Farms) in the village of Onbhu Karuppur near Thiruppanandhal in the district gave a 5kg rice bag for 205 families on the first day.
The family has planned to extend incentives to 750 families who have more than 2,500 in category 18+ years in Onbathu Karuppur, Naganancheri and Srirangarajapuram.
“There are strong doubts among people in three villages to take vaccinations regardless of the threat of the disease.
Only a number of people who can be ignored have taken vaccines.
So we decided to take awareness about vaccination for the masses and encourage them to advance,” said Radhika Santanakrishnan, family member, who lives in Chennai.
At the first of vaccinations in the community hall built by the AKR family, working with the government in the village, 326 people took Jab.
The rice bag was given to those who had been vaccinated on the production of tokens issued by the family.
“The drive will continue until all people who meet the requirements are vaccinated,” said Radhika, who runs the Nalam pen at Chennai.
The family also released a short film about the importance of taking vaccine rumors and removing rumors and wrong ideas that prevent people from taking vaccines.
“A few days before the launch of the program, we experienced a short film on the local cable television channel.
The effort caused a big response from the people,” said Radhika.
