Lucknow: The Ramlila Ground page in Mahanagar was filled with young girls who tried their paper costumes, fixing jewelry with each other and clicking on a picture.

Artists 15-20 women aged 12 to 40 years – are part of Mahanagar Unique Ramlilawich who is proud to be the only Ramleela in the city where all the main characters are women.
From RAM, Lakshman, Sita, to Bharat and Shatrughan, all the leading roles are played by young girls on a four-day event starting from Tuesday.
Anushikha Joshi, who has played RAM for two years, said that his relationship with the character has caused his personality change.
“Even though I have been part of Ramlila for the past two years, I have appeared since age 6.
Every character you play leaves something with you.
Lord Ram’s character has made me more patient and calmer,” Anushikha said, as he added that he was Has grown to watch his father play a dashrath role, and feel lucky to have been chosen for the role of RAM.
“My father said that a good player was the person who listened to everyone patiently while practicing and improved with senior advice.
I tried to follow this,” he added.
Like love between Brothers Ram and Lakshman, Anushikha (20) and Srishti (19), who play it, also share friendly relationships.
“We are like a big family.
I always have the secret desire to act.
I feel blessed to do it by playing these mythological numbers,” Srishti added.
Another unique factor of Ramlila is Lohumi’s family, where all members, including two children, play different characters.
Yashi (16) plays Sita and Falguni (12) plays Shatrughan, while their parents play the role of Janak and Janak Patni.
Sisters say their interest in Indian culture and classical songs encourage them to take part in Ramlila.
“We started by playing small characters when we joined five years ago.
Now, the role has changed and I play confiscated, while my sister played Shatrughan and Gauri Ma,” Yashi added.
President of the Lalit Committee Mohan Joshi said, “Since the committee was formed in 1968, we had included both sexes.
However, only a few women took part because the man played the character of women too.
Gradually, young women and young girls began to join and Now, we have more artists than men.
All our main characters, except Ravan, played by women.
