New Delhi: Opposition Association Displayed again on Wednesday when 14 parties denied the allegations of buying and disrupting the parliamentary process and blaming the government for his rejection to receive demand for discussion about Pegasus and Agricultural Law.
Continuing their demand for debate about these problems, the leaders of the 14 opposition parties said responsibility for the deadlock in the parliament were located right with the government and urged him to respect parliamentary democracy by accepting their requests for discussion.
In a joint statement, 18 leaders from 14 parties said it was unfortunate that the government had “released a misleading campaign to slander the combined opposition” and blame it for a parliamentary process disruption.
“The responsibility for the deadlock is located right on the threshold of the government, which remains arrogant and strong and refuses to accept opposition requests for information debates in both houses,” said the statement.
The statement issued by the opposition leader at Rajya Sabha Malikarjun Kharge, Head of NCP Sharad Pawar, DMK’s TR Balu and Tiruchi Siva, Congress’ Anand Sharma, Yadav Samajwadi Party, Derek and Kalyan Banerjee from Trinamool Congress and Vinayak.
Raut from Shiv Sena, urged the government “to respect parliamentary democracy and receive demand for discussion”.
Manoj Jha (RJD), CPM Elamaram Kareem, Binoy Viswam CPI, AAP’s Sushil Gupta, Mohd Iuml.
Basheer, NC Hasnain Masoodi, RSP N-K Premachandran and M V Sheyams Kumar are also among the signatories of the joint statement.
The opposition statement came after the government attacked Congress and other opposition parties for disruption in parliament since it was opened for the Monsun session on July 19.
PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday led the attack asked BJP parliamentarians to “expose the Party (Congress) of the public and media”.
The statement said: “The opposition party stands firm and united at their request for discussion about Pegasus issues in parliament, answering by the Minister of Home Affairs, because this has a national security dimension.”
