Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday urged the center to enter the synonym of ‘Kurumans’ in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
Anbumani submitted a request during a question and answer hours in parliament on Wednesday.
Speaking with TII by telephone, Anbumani said that Kurumans were condensed in Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Erode and Coimbatore Regency.
“I have urged the central government to include Kurumans synonyms such as ‘Kurumbar’, ‘Kurumbar’ and ‘Kuruman’ along with Kurumans from the Tamil Nadu list.
This will ensure social justice for tribal people, especially Kurumans,” he said.
Replying to this, the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu said the central government has put modalities to decide claims to be included, exclusion from and other modifications in orders that determine the SCS and STS list.
In accordance with the modalities, only proposals have been recommended and justified by the state / state of the union in the concerned union that occurred with the Registrar General of India (RGI) and the St (NCST) National Commission must be considered and legislative amended.
“All actions on the proposal are taken according to this approved modality,” he replied in a written statement.
