Increase the capacity of seats up to 100% will not help Delhi Metro

New Delhi: Order Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) which allows Delhi Metro Trains and Public Transport Buses to operate with 100% seating capacity has brought assistance to commuters, but the queue to enter the station is still there, although it is shorter than before.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also decided to run a train with a much lower frequency on weekends with weekend curvacts imposed by DDMA.
After the DDMA meeting, Deputy Chairperson of Minister Manish Sisodia said that the decision was taken to control crowding and prevent the metro station and the bus stop from becoming a Super Covid-19 spreader.
Anuj Dayal, the DMRC Corporate Communications (Corporate Communications), said according to the latest DDMA guidelines, curfew had been put in place on January 8 and 9.
During this period, Metro services would be available at reduced frequencies.
He added that the train would be available at a 15-minute frequency at the Yellow Line (Huda City Center-Samaypur Badli) and Blue Line (Dwarka SEC-21-NOIDA ELECTRONIC CITY / VAISHALI).
“In all other lines, the train will be available at a 20-minute frequency during weekend hours,” Dayal said.
“On weekdays, the Metro service will continue to be available as usual.
This is to repeat that it is in accordance with the latest guidelines, although 100% sitting permitted on the Metro train, no establishment is permitted.
Entering the train and the station will continue to remain very tight because only Up to 50 passengers per coach are permitted, “Dayal said.
Officially advises people to travel only if it is really important and also keeps extra time in hand because the entry will continue to be set to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
This can produce a long queue or wait for the outside station.
While up to 25 passengers per coach can be accommodated when 50% seating and no passengers standing are permitted, the number will now go up to 50.
Unlike buses, the Metro train is intended for bulk transit and designed for a large number of passengers standing.
With the current guidelines, the carrying capacity of eight trainers will rise from 200 to 400, although up to 1,000 passengers can be done if passengers are allowed to stand with social distance, the source said.
