JERUSALEM: Israeli authorities on Sunday escorted around 50 Jewish people to some flashpoint holy site in Jerusalem where authorities action recently had sparked protests and violence which triggered warfare in Gaza, according to the Islamic authority visiting the website.

The Waqf said authorities cleared young Palestinians from this Al-Aqsa Mosque chemical and restricted entry to Muslims under the age of 45.

Muslims that entered were needed to leave their IDs with authorities in the entry.

It stated three Muslims were detained, like a protector.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the website was available for”routine visits” and police had secured the region to stop”events,” without elaborating.

Israeli authorities had temporarily clashed with Palestinian protesters following Friday prayers in an early evaluation for the truce, which had taken effect hours before.

The Waqf said Sunday that it had been the very first time Jews were permitted to go to the website since May 4, a week before the war broke out.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam.

It sits on a sprawling hilltop at Jerusalem’s Old City that’s respected by Jews as their official website as it had been the place of the temples.

The website has frequently been the spectacle of Israeli-Palestinian violence and has been the very epicenter of the 2000 Palestinian intifada, or uprising.

Israeli authorities clashed with Palestinian protesters on the times leading up to May 10, when Gaza’s militant Hamas exemptions fired long-range rockets in Jerusalem.

The endangered eviction of dozens of families from a local Jerusalem area was mentioned as another significant cause of this 11-day war, that had been stopped by a cease-fire on Friday.

In the past few decades, rising numbers of governmental and religious Jews have seen the website.

Palestinians fear Israel intends to finally take over the chemical or partition .

The Israeli government has said it does not have any intention of altering the status quo, where the Waqf manages the site below Jordanian custodianship.
