UNITED NATIONS: India has abstained to a UN General Assembly resolution on Myanmar, saying its own views haven’t been represented in the draft resolution and also a”consultative and constructive” strategy involving Myanmar’s neighboring countries is vital as the worldwide community tries to the peaceful resolution of the problem.
Even the UNGA adopted a resolution on Myanmar on Friday that called”on the Myanmar armed forces to honor the public’s will as openly expressed by the general election of November 8, 2020, to terminate the state of crisis, to honor all human rights of those Myanmar and also to permit the continuing democratic transition of Myanmar, for example, opening of this state elected parliament, and from working towards attracting all federal associations, including the armed forces, underneath a completely inclusive civilian government that’s representative of their public will”.
The resolution was adopted with 119 states voting”yes”, Belarus voting”no more” and India and 35 other nations abstaining, such as China and Russia.
In the explanation of vote, India stated”we see our views have yet to be represented in the draft being considered for adoption now.
