New Delhi: India is the sole source of the largest government request for account information received by Twitter, contributing 25 percent of global volume, in the July-December 2020 period, the microblogging platform said on Wednesday.
India is also ranked second in terms of the volume of lawsuits for deletion of content after Japan, Twitter said on a blog that gives updates to transparency reports.
Twitter raises a Biannual report where he shares details about the number of government and legal requests, removal requests and data around accounts that are followed up for various violations and violations of the rules.
In his latest blog, Twitter said it produced several or all information requested in response to 30 percent of the demand for global information by the government in the July-December 2020 period.
“India is the biggest source of government information requests, accounting for 25 percent of global volume and 15 percent of the specified global account.
The highest volume of requests for the highest information comes from the US, consisting of 22 percent of global information requests, “he added.
Twitter said the US submitted the highest volume of global emergency demand (34 percent), followed by Japan (17 percent), and South Korea (16 percent).
During the reporting period (July-December) 2020), Twitter received 38,524 lawsuits to remove content that determined 1.31,933 accounts.
The platform is cut or removed some or all content reported in response to 29 percent of these global lawsuits.
“Although there are 9 percent.
Decreasing the number of Twitter lawsuits received, compared to the previous reporting period, this request is looking for the removal of content from the number of the largest accounts ever in a single reporting period,” Twitter added.
About 94 percent of the total global volume of lawsuits came from only five countries (in declining order) – Japan, India, Russia, Turkey, and South Korea.
US-based companies said accounts in 199 journalists and news outlets were verified from all over the world charged 361 lawsuits – a 26 percent increase in this demand since the previous reporting period.
This is related to mentioning here that Twitter has burned his failure to comply with IT rules in India, despite repeated reminders from the government.
Twitter – which is estimated at 1.75 crore users in India – losing its legal shield as an intermediary in this country, is responsible for the content that violates the law posted by its users.
Twitter recently appointed a resident complaint officer, the days after it appointed a main compliance officer, and also released the first Indian transparency report on Sunday to comply with the new rules.
On his blog on Wednesday, Twitter said the impressions on negligent tweets contributed less than 0.1 percent of all impressions for all tweets globally from July-December 2020.
The impression of metrics captured the number of views received by tweets that were not accepted.
During this time, Twitter removed 3.8 million tweets that violated the rules.
About 77 percent of these received less than 100 impressions before being removed, 17 percent had received between 100 and 1,000 impressions and 6 percent of the two-deleted tweets had ore rather than 1,000 impressions.
“Our goal is to increase these numbers from time to time, take enforcement action against content that does not excel before it is even seen,” Twitter said.
