Washington: India and Pakistan need to work with each other to resolve their bilateral problems, said the United States, observing that it always encourages both neighbors to build a more stable relationship forward.
“With regard to India-Pakistan, I will only note that we strongly believe that Indian and Pakistani issues are people for them to exercise among themselves,” Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian affairs, Dean Thompson said to reporters during the conference on Friday.
“We are happy to see that the ceasefire that falls into place this year – remains intact, and we definitely always encourage them to continue their efforts to find a way to build a more stable relationship,” Thompson said in response to the question.
The relationship between India and the Pakistani nose that had been spent after New Delhi canceled the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and divided into two Union regions.
The two neighbors at the beginning of the year signed a ceasefire agreement.
On the question in Afghanistan, the assistant Secretary of Acting said that the US expects all countries in the region to have a common interest in Afghanistan which is stable and secure in the future.
State Secretary Antony Blinken is scheduled to visit India next week where Afghanistan will be the topic of the main discussion.
“We will definitely see talking to our Indian partners about how we can work together to realize that goal, to find a way to bring together parties, and continue to pursue a settlement negotiated to end a long war,” Thompson said.
