New Delhi: The border road organization (Bro) has built the world’s highest motorized road in 19,300 feet in Umlingla Pass in East Ladakh, creating a global record in high road construction.
This is what you need to know: * Jalan Tarmak 52-km long run through Umlingla Pass and has broken the previous road record in Bolivia connected to Volcano Uturucu at a price of 18,953 feet.
* The road will connect important cities in the East Ladakh chumar sector.
* This will improve the lives of locals by offering alternative direct routes that connect Chisumle and Demchok from Leh.
* The road has been built at a higher altitude than the MT Everest base camp when the southern base camp at Nepal is at an altitude of 17,598 feet.
* It has been built on the height of the Siachen glacier at 17,700 feet.
That’s Khardung La Pass at Leh is at an altitude of 17,582 feet.
* Roads are expected to improve socio-economic conditions and promote tourism in Ladakh.
* Building the road is not easy as the temperature in the area down to 40 degrees during the winter and oxygen level at this height nearly 50 percent less than in normal places.
