The Rajnath Singh-led defence acquisitions council (DAC) accepted the RFP (request for proposal) to be issued to citizenship shipyard Mazagon Docks (MDL) and personal ship-builder L&T.
Both have been shortlisted for its diesel-electric submarine-building programme known as’Project-75 India (P-75I)’ following a long-drawn procedure.

The Navy is now cooperating with a fast-depleting underwater battle arm in a period when Chinese warships and submarines are producing frequent forays into the Indian Ocean Region.
China, in house, currently has the world’s biggest Navy using 350 warships, such as 50 standard and 10 atomic submarines, and intends to attain some force-level of 420 at the end of the decade.

The Indian Navy, in its own part, has until today inducted three of those six French-origin Scorpene submarines being assembled below the 23,000 crore’Project-75′ Published at MDL.

India also contains two nuclear-powered submarines, INS Arihant along with INS Chakra, however the latter doesn’t possess nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles as it’s been obtained on rental from Russia.
As was reported by TOI, an additional job to construct six nuclear-powered attack submarines (known as SSNs) is impending with the Cabinet Committee on Security for its last nod.
The building of all of those six SSNs, every weighing 6,000-tonne and costing approximately Rs 15,000 crore, is very likely to be removed from the first move.
Read on AlsoProject to develop N-powered assault subs place for CCS nodIndia is defined to clean a mega native project to construct three nuclear-powered attack submarines, which is followed by acceptance for the following three in a subsequent stage, within their long-term strategy to cancel China’s expanding naval footprint from the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and also beyond. As per approved programs, India ought to have 18 traditional submarines, six SSNs and four nuclear-powered submarines using nuclear-tipped missiles (SSBNs) such as INS Arihant.
