New Delhi: India on Thursday condemned the deadly bomb blast near Kabul airport and said the attack strengthened the world’s needs to stand united against terrorists and those who provide protection against terrorists.
The Associated Press reported that at least 72 people were killed and the scores were injured in a twin suicide bomb.
The Pentagon said at least 12 “service members” were killed in the “complex attack” at Kabul Airport.
“Today’s attack strengthens the world’s needs to stand unite against terrorism and everyone who provides protection against terrorists,” said the External Ministry (MEA) in a late night statement.
It extended condolences to the families of the victims of the attack.
“India strongly condemns a bomb blast in Kabul today.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of victims of this terrorist attack,” Mea said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers also go to the injured,” he said.
The explosion took place amid the struggle for various countries to evacuate their citizens and partners of their Afghanistan from Kabul before the August deadline for the withdrawal of American troops.
Thousands of Afghans gathered around Kabul airport for more than a week, in a desperate effort to escape from the country by fear of the brutality of the Taliban.
