India condemned the murder of Denmark Siddiqui

New Delhi: Danish Indian photojurnalia body Denmark Siddiqui, who was killed when covering a ongoing conflict in Afghanistan on Friday, has been submitted to the Red Cross by the Taliban, said government sources.
Revealing condolences to the Siddiqui family, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said the journalist, who was employed by the international news agency, has been killed when covering the atrocities of the Taliban in Kandahar.
Harsh Shringla’s foreign secretary condemned the murder of journalists while speaking at the UN Security Council on Friday.
According to reports from Kabul, the Pulitzer prize winner journalist was embedded with Afghan troops which were ambushed by the Taliban near the Spin Boldak Border Crossing.
“While I extend sincere condolences to the Mr.
Sediqqui family and also for our media family, I repeated my unwavering government’s commitment to freedom of speech and protecting free media and journalists,” Ghani said.
The Indian Embassy in Kabul was associated with Afghan authorities to restore the remnants of Siddiqui, officials here.
“We actively facilitate the return of the body coordinating with Afghan and ICRC authorities.
We are in a regular touch with Siddiqui family members,” said a source here.
Tolo News Afghanistan, quoting sources, reported that Siddiqui was killed during a clash in the Spin Boldak district in Kandahar.
It was said that the fierce battle had taken place in Kandahar, especially in Spin Boldak, for the past few days.
Afghanistan accused Pakistan protecting Taliban troops who claimed to have taken over the border with Pakistan.
Afghanistan has witnessed a series of terror attacks in the past few weeks with the US withdrawing the majority of his troops from the country and aimed at completing Drawdown on August 31, ending nearly two decades of his military presence in the country.
