New Delhi: India has appealed against the verdict of the trade dispute resolution of the World Trade Organization (WTO), a official said.
The panel has decided that state domestic support steps for sugar and sugar cane are inconsistent with global trade norms.
The appeal was submitted by India at the Appellate WTO Agency, which was the last authority about the trade dispute.
India has stated that the ruler of the WTO dispute panel has made certain “mistaken” findings about the domestic scheme to support the manufacturer and export of sugar cane and the fully “unacceptable” panel findings for it.
The panel in its decision on December 14, 2021 recommended India to attract the alleged subsidy forbidden within 120 days.
