New Delhi: India on Friday firmly rejected a report on the Minister of External Affairs Jaisankar met with Taliban leaders, describing them as “wrong and naughty”.
“We have seen several media reports based on tweets by several journalists about meetings with the Taliban by the Minister of External Affairs,” Arindam Bagchi’s external affairs Ministry spokesman said at the media briefing.
“Let me firmly deny the claim that the Minister of External Affairs met with the Taliban leader.
The stories are wrong and naughty,” he said while answering questions.
Bagchi said India supports all peace initiatives and has been involved with various stakeholders.
There has been a new push towards the Afghan peace process when the US sought to complete the withdrawal of his troops from Afghanistan on September 11, ended almost two decades of military presence in a war-hit country.
In the midst of rapid development relating to the Afghan peace process, a Senior Qatar diplomat said at a webinar organized by the Arab Center in Washington DC recently that he believed India was involved with the Taliban as the key to components in the future of Afghanistan.
India has become the main stakeholder in peace and stability of Afghanistan.
This has invested nearly $ 3 billion in assistance and reconstruction activities in this country.
India has supported the national peace and reconciliation process led by Afghanistan, owned by Afghanistan and Afghanistan.
In March, Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar visited India where Jaishankar told him the long-term commitment of India to a peaceful, sovereign, and stable Afghanistan.
