New Delhi: India does not consider the authorization of the Covid-19 dosage booster but because many in this country have been infected naturally and the government believes two vaccine doses offer sufficient protection for now, three sources with that knowledge.
Because vaccine equipment increases, some doctors and public health experts in India have urged the government to start a booster program for the most vulnerable to many western countries.
But the authorities will concentrate on most of the 944 million adults in India resolving the vaccination of two doses in January before shifting their focus to major expansion in exports, said the sources involved in the vaccine policy discussion.
So far, 81% of Indian adults have received at least one dose while 43% have two doses.
Vaccination for people under 18 years has not begun.
“The priority is to fully immunize the adult population,” said one source.
Sources refused to be mentioned as the name was still discussed by policy makers.
“The big majority has been infected naturally, and for those two doses is enough.
That’s why we see that even after the festival recently, cases don’t rise.” The source said that after most adults have two doses of vaccines, the government can create optional booster.
The Ministry of Health does not respond to a comment request.
India reported the most Covid-19 case and death figures in the world in April and May and government surveys have shown that almost 70% of Indians are naturally infected in July.
This country has so far recorded 34.5 million infections – the most after the United States – with more than 465,000 deaths.
Although India celebrates the two biggest festivals, Diwali and Durga Puja in October and November, infection has fallen into multi-month lows.
Many Western countries expand their booster programs, even for people without compromised immunity – policies that have been criticized by the World Health Organization.
Indian vaccine companies such as the Indian Serum Institute, which produces the licensed version of AstraZeneca and Novavax shots, expect the government to enable the amplifier of the early time of next year.
Dr.
Laboratory Reddy said he was in talks with Indian drug regulators to sell Russian sputnik light as a booster dose.
Indian countries have more than 216 million vaccine doses in stock on early Monday.
The Indian vaccine output has more than tripled since April to around 300 million doses a month.
