New Delhi: India supplies the next Humanitarian Help Batch consisting of 500,000 doses of covid vaccine (covaxin) to Afghanistan, the government announced on Saturday.
The consignment was handed over to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kabul.
Another batch of 500,000 additional doses will be supplied in the coming weeks, the Foreign Ministry said.
“The Indian government has committed to providing humanitarian assistance to Afghans consisting of food, one million doses of covid vaccines and essential life-saving drugs,” he added.
India last month delivered 1.6 tons of medical assistance to Afghanistan through the World Health Organization (WHO).
“In the coming weeks, we will carry out wheat supplies and remaining medical assistance.
In this case, we are related to UN agencies and others to complete modalities for transportation,” Ministry added.
India remains in touch with Pakistan to complete the modalities to transport 50,000 mt of wheat to Afghanistan.
