New Delhi: India is in talks with various countries for reciprocal recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certification, the government told parliament on Thursday.
In a written reply to the question at Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan also said there was no current plan to introduce a vaccine passport.
He said the normal international trip was still suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
There was no multilateral protocol on the current trip for those who were vaccinated against Covid-19, said Muraleedharan.
“Most countries need a negative Covid-19 report, along with compliance with the Covid protocol specifically for the country,” he said.
“Because some countries have established their position in connection with the vaccine that will free travelers from quarantine, India involves various countries to recognize each other’s vaccination certification,” added the minister.
He said even though there was a multilateral discussion, including the Aegis International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), on the Covid-19 vaccination certificate, there were no settings completed until now.
“India has become part of the ongoing discussion,” Muraleedharan said.
