Having spent more than RS 1,600 Crore fighting the second wave of Covid-19 in the financial year 2020-21, a study said on Monday.
Research consisting of more than 350 public companies carried out by the CSR knowledge platform and intelligence impact – ‘CSRBOX’ stated that India companies launched more than 750 corporate social responsibility initiatives in response to the second wave.
About 57 percent of CSR initiatives to combat the second wave of Covid-19 are targeted at direct recipients – Covid infected people, reports entitled ‘Response CSR against Covid 2.0’ said.
More than 400 corporate CSR initiatives to combat the second wave of infections are intended to buy medical supplies, ventilators, and safety gears such as PPE Kit.
Recent notification from the Corporate Affairs Ministry to include Covid-19 response and assistance work under Schedule VII of CSR actions that are catalyzed CSR to reduce the impact of Covid-19.
“Corporate has responded covid with great urgency and extraordinary flexibility, rapid CSR project approval for the procurement of timely essential medical supply, working together with the center, the state of the state and local institution,” said CSRox Ranch & CEO BHOMIK Shah.
The report found 35 percent of the intervention was carried out in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.
These support included more than 200 oxygen factories, establishing more than 75 emergency hospitals and Covid Ward with more than 10,000 beds, 3,500 ventilators and 140,000 oxygen concentrators.
What is important, 33 companies contribute more than Rs 150 Crore to carry out public awareness activities in 17 states, the report said.
