Bengaluru: Department of Space (DOS) plans to realize a fully built rocket – GSLV-MK III and SSLV – from Indian industrial partners, in addition to PSLV, according to the highest official from the commercial arm of NSIL.
NSIL (Newspace India Limited) has received three offers – Hal-L & T, Bel-Adani-Beml, and Bhel, in response to the request of the proposal (RFP) floating by it for the production of PSLV end-to-end (Polar Satellite vehicle launch) .
“We are now experiencing techno-commercial evaluations (in connection with three offers)”, Chairperson of NSIL and Managing Director, Radhakrishnan D, to PTI here.
He said the process would be completed in the next two months with one of the bidders bagging contracts.
The selected bidder will be responsible for realizing five PSLV quantities.
Immediately after the election of the bidder to produce the entire PSLV, NSIL will release an interest in the interest (EOI) for the production of other operational-to-end operational rocket – GSLV-MK III (Geosinkron satellite launch vehicle) – in the same way, said Radhakrishnan.
“I am targeting before the end of this year (to release EOI for GSLV-MK III)”, he said.
NSIL also has a plan to realize SSLV (small satellite launch vehicles), is being developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (SSLV) with the first development flight expected at the end of this year, through Indian Industrial Partners.
“We are waiting for the first mission (SSLV) that happened”, said Radhakrishnan.
“This (SSLV) will be the ideal candidate for industrial production”.
SSLV is a three-stage three-stage vehicle and has the ability to launch up to 500 kg of satellite mass to 500 km of low earth orbit (LEO) and 300 kg to Sun Synchronous orbit (SSO).
The new generation compact rocket has been designed to meet the requirements of “demand launch” in a cost-effective way for small satellites in special modes and Rideshare, according to ISRO officials headquartered Bengaluru.
Industrialization of space activities gets momentum in India.
About 40 startups and industrial space consulted with ISRO for support related to various domains of space activity such as satellite development, launching vehicles, developing space-based applications and providing space-based services.
India’s direct foreign investment policy in the space sector will also be revised which, Chair of the ISRO and Secretary Dos K Sivan believes, will open a big way for foreign companies to invest in this country.
Earlier this month, DOS signed the Skeleton MoU with two Spacetech Startups – Skyroot Aerospace and Agnikul Cosmos – for access to the facilities and expertise of ISRO on the development and testing of the subsystem / space launch vehicle system.
