New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India was proud to have the largest vaccination program in the world and more than 54 crore people had taken Covid-19 vaccines.
“We can say proudly that the largest Covid vaccination program in the world is taking place in India.
More than 54 crore people have taken vaccines,” he said in the address of his independence from the red fort.
The Prime Minister also praised those involved in making vaccines in the country and said India did not have to depend on the outside world for a vaccine against Coronavirus.
“We have to make sure we fulfill our goal of building Aatmanirbhar Bharat when we celebrate 100 years of Indian independence,” said PM Modi.
He also praised doctors, nurses, and paramedics for their efforts in fighting Pandemic Covid-19.
Prime Minister highlighted the creation of digital platforms, Cowin applications, which attracted the world’s attention.
Talking about the granting of free rations to 80 people crore during a pandemic, he said it had shocked the world and was being discussed.
Modi also called on steps to bridge the gap between life in the village and city.
