NEW DELHI: India midfielder Anirudh Thapa has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be under quarantine in another area from the team hotel in Doha.
Thapa tested positive on Wednesday, a day earlier India lost 0-1 to Asian winners Qatar within their combined World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers at Doha.
“Yes, Anirudh Thapa tested positive (such as COVID-19) and he’s isolated (from several other group members),” All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das told PTI on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Chennaiyin FC participant is going to be analyzed to your virus in a day or two.
He’s played over 20 games for India.
India are currently out of contention for a World Cup berth but stay from the reckoning for your 2023 Asian Cup.
Together with three points out of six games, some winless India are in fourth place from the Group E standings.
