New Delhi: India on Wednesday offers to collaborate with East Asian countries to produce drugs that are not patents, vaccines, and other medical technologies to combat Covid-19, while calling for the neglect of patents and other intellectual property rights to deal with viruses threaten.
During the meeting of the East Asia Summit minister, the Junior Minister for Trade and Industry of Anupriya Patel said that 70% of global vaccines were produced in India and their capacity to produce quality drugs and vaccines at affordable prices globally recognized.
“In a world of interconnected and global, there is nothing safe until everyone is safe; India looks forward to the initial results on the journey of neglecting for vaccines, therapy and diagnostics.
Joint prosperity is not possible without a shared commitment,” he said.
Comments came a few days after Malaysia became a provision of proposals for temporary neglect of trips in the World Trade Organization, which continued to face resistance from Switzerland, England and the European Union.
The statement also coincides with a higher vaccine production and can be seen as an effort to fight China’s influence in the region and its efforts to encourage the two vaccines, which have lower efficacy than those produced in India.
