New Delhi: India and Pakistan have issued an assignment visa for each diplomat after the gap of about 28 months because the two countries tried to normalize bonds.
The two countries have issued a large number of visa assignments for their respective diplomatic staff in recent weeks.
According to Express Tribune, India and Pakistan have published a visa on all applications submitted on March 15, 2021.
A total of seven Pakistani diplomats receive an assignment visa from India while Pakistan issued a visa to 33 Indian officials.
According to Tribune Express, India and Pakistan tend to issue more visas for their respective diplomats.
Both countries around the world issued an assignment visa to diplomats and embassy staff from other countries.
In January this year, the two countries held secret talks in Dubai, initiating back channel diplomacy which aims to normalize bonds in the next few months.
Indian and Pakistani soldiers in February 2021 announced a unexpected joint ceasefire.
In April, the UAE’s envoy to Washington said that the Gulf State mediated between India and Pakistan to achieve a healthy and functional relationship, report the Tribune Express.
The Ambassador of Yousef Al Otaiba said in a virtual discussion with the Hoover institution of the University of Stanford, “UAE has played a role in carrying the escalation of Kashmir down and creating a ceasefire, hopefully it will eventually lead to recover diplomats and get a relationship back to a healthy level”.
“They may not be kind of good friend but at least we want to get it to the level at which functional, where it is operational, where they talk to each other,” he added.
Previously in March, the Chief of Staff Amy Gen Qamar Javed Baja called India to bury the past and move towards cooperation.
The bond between the two countries deteriorated after the 2019 Pulwama attack where 40 central reserve police personnel (CRPF) were killed.
