New Delhi: India achieved the highest exports that had been $ 37.29 billion in December, an annual basis, data released by the government showed on Monday.
Overcoming media, trade and Minister of Industry Piyush faltered assured that India was on its track to achieve the export target of $ 400 billion in the financial year 2021-22.
“With $ 300 billion in the first nine months of 2021-22 we are on track to reach our target …
this growth is satisfying and we have to aspire to more,” said Goyal.
He also noted that the top 10 top commodity groups were 80 percent of exports had grown by 41 percent since last December.
Furthermore, shipping out during April-December 2021 crossed $ 300 billion, exceeding export 2020-21, data shows.
On the other hand, the Indian trade deficit widened to $ 21.99 billion.
Imports in December also rose 38 percent to $ 59.27 billion due to an increase in oil imports, which jumped 65.17 percent to $ 15.9 billion.
Exports in December 2020 reached $ 27.22 billion, while imports were collected to $ 42.93 billion.
The trade deficit is $ 15.72 billion.
In December 2021, engineering goods exports grew by 37.27 percent to $ 9.7 billion, followed by petroleum products (140 percent to $ 5.6 billion), gems and jewelry (15.8 percent to $ 2, 98 billion), chemicals (26 percent to $ 2.64 billion)) and ready-to-use clothing from all textiles (22 percent to $ 1.46 billion).
