NEW DELHI: India calls to get a totally free, open and comprehensive arrangement from the Indo-Pacific, said defence minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, adding that New Delhi supports freedom of navigation, overflight, and unimpeded trade in the global waterways such as the South China Sea.
Through the digital address in the Asean Defence Ministers’ Meeting And (ADMM-Plus),” Singh claimed that marine security challenges are yet another subject of concern to India and it expects the Code of Conduct discussions concerning the South China Sea can result in results which are consistent with international legislation.
“India calls to get a totally free, open and comprehensive arrangement in the Indo-Pacific, predicated on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, peaceful settlement of disputes through discussion and adherence to global principles and legislation,” he explained.
“India has bolstered its combined connections in the Indo-Pacific according to converging dreams and values such as marketing of peace, harmony, and prosperity within the area.
Premised on the centrality of Asean, India affirms the utilisation of all Asean-led mechanics as major platforms for the execution of the shared vision to its Indo-Pacific,” he further added.
Mentioning the sea turtles of communication have become essential for peace, harmony, prosperity and evolution of this Indo-Pacific area, ” the Minister said improvements from the South China Sea have drawn attention to the area and outside.
“India supports freedom of navigation, overflight, and unimpeded trade in these global waterways.
India expects the Code of Conduct talks will result in results which are in keeping with international law, such as the UNCLOS and don’t prejudice the rights and interests of both countries which aren’t a party to such talks,” he explained China asserts sovereignty over nearly the full South China Sea and contains overlapping territorial claims by Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan.

Terming terrorism and radicalisation because the”gravest threats” to peace and safety, ” the Minister stated that India remains committed to fighting funding terrorism for a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
