India said Biden agreed with Pakistan’s concern in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON: India said Friday that US President Joe Biden and other leaders agreed to oversee Pakistan, adding that his historical rival has become a “dital” problem in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held his first direct meeting with Biden and then took part in the wider “Quad” summit with Australian and Japanese leaders.
During the conversation, Modi shared concerns about the extremist element in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover last month, Indian officials said.
“There is a clear feeling that a more careful view and more careful examination and monitoring the role of Pakistan in the role of Afghanistan – Pakistan about the problem of terrorism – must be saved,” said the foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told reporters after the white house talks.
Quad will track “important points that are sometimes ignored when you see Pakistan projects themselves as facilitators while have truly in many ways feeling the instigation of some problems in our environment and outside,” he said.
India was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the pro-Western government in Afghanistan which collapsed last month because Biden pulled US forces deployed for 20 years.
Pakistan was a supporter of the Taliban regime in 1996-2001 who imposed an ultra-hard interpretation of Islam and welcomed Al-Qaeda, triggering US invasion after the September 11 attack.
Pakistan quickly supported the United States, the Allies of Cold War, in the war but US officials had long accused of strong Islamic intelligence services to maintain support for the Taliban – part of Pakistan’s concern for the influence of India in Afghanistan.
However, the United States, it has openly welcomed Pakistan’s efforts including assistance to bring the Taliban into unsuccessful talks with the falling Afghan government.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken thanked Pakistan for helping US citizens leave Afghanistan.
His colleague Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi promised to work to “achieve our mutual goals.” The Hindu Nationalist Government of Modi has had a tense relationship with Pakistan, who accused the stunning attack of the Indian land, although the beginning of this year he called for a friendly relationship with his colleague Imran Khan.
