BENGALURU: India on Thursday appointed eight Olympic debutants on its 16-member women’s hockey team to the Tokyo Games to be held from July 23 to August 8.
The group includes eight seasoned campaigners who survive showcased at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Indian women’s hockey team will be captained by star striker Rani Rampal at the quadrennial Games.
The eight Olympic debutants comprise drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur, Udita, Nisha, Neha, Navneet Kaur, Sharmila Devi, Lalremsiami, is now the primary player hailing from Mizoram from the group, along with Salima Tete.
Tete had directed the Indian team in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires into your silver medal performance.
This is going to be the women’s hockey team’s third appearance at the Olympic Games along with also their second successive outing, together with previous appearances coming from 1980 and 2016.
