Bengaluru: India has ordered 10 million doses of Covid-19 DNA vaccine Zydus Cadila at a price of 265 rupees ($ 3.57) per dose, the drug maker on Monday.
The country’s drug regulator in August approved three dose shots, Zycov-D, for emergency use in adults and children aged 12 years and over.
This vaccine is given using a needle-free applicator that contradicts traditional syringes.
Applicator, called “Pharmajet”, will be sold at 93 rupees per dose.
This vaccine cannot be used in Indian inoculation drives, which have relied primarily on locally produced versions of Covid-19 AstraZeneca shots by the Indian Serum Institute.
The price of 265 rupees has been decided through consultation with the government, Zydus said in submission to the Stock Exchange.
