New Delhi: India and the United Arab Emirates carry out naval exercises off the coast of Abu Dhabi on Saturday, in reflection of rapid gains in bilateral military cooperation.
The Indian Navy deployed Kochi’s warship and two Helicopters of the Integral King MK 42B for training ‘Zayed Talwar’, officials said.
UAE participated in the training with Al-Dhafra, Corvette Missile Guided Class Baynunah, and one Panther AS-565B helicopter, they said.
Exercise took place amid increasing tension in the Gulf region after the drone attack on the Omman merchant tanker killed a British citizen and a Romanian resident for a week of his back.
The United Kingdom and US pointed the fingers in Iran for attack on Mercer Street MV, operated by Israel’s company.
Tehran has refused the accusation.
“As part of this exercise, the vessels carry out tactical maneuvers, for targeting the horizon, search and rescue and training of electronic warfare to increase interoperability and synergy between the two navies,” said the Indian Navy Commander Vivek Madhwal.
He said the helicopter was widely used all through exercises ranging from search and rescue operations to graduation targeting data to ship for simulated missile engagement exercises.
Navy exercises came a week after the Head of Air Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria visited the United Arab Emirates.
In December last year, the Head of the MM Naravan Gen Army visited UAE and Saudi Arabia during the first visit by the Head of the Indian Army to two important bay countries.
