LONDON: British head coach Chris Silverwood fired a warning to his top orders that faltered on Monday, showing that Haseeeb Hameed was close to withdrawal for the second test against India.
Big-Order Run has been a consistent problem for some time for England with Rory Burns, Zak Crawley and Dom Sibley with the spotlight after failing to register a score of 30 in two innings from the first test drawn.
Crawley has an average of more than 11 years 2021, while Sibley has not had a better grade with an average of 21.56 in the nine of his last appearances and also attracted unwanted attention to the level of pedestrian assessment which saw it made 46 balls during the first test.
.
“I prefer accused giving someone too many opportunities than not enough,” Silverwood said.
“But at any time I have to make a decision.” We have to overcome and accept we don’t get it, so we have to see the reason.
The question has been caused to batting trainers too – how do we ensure we give them the best opportunity to be successful? “But in the end if it didn’t work, I had to see why and how I changed it.
Ideally, we get a score of guys again, get trust back in it.
But if it doesn’t happen, it’s clear I have to see it.” Hameed was waiting on the wings for Opportunities, almost five years since the finger broke cut an interesting start to the British career in India.
The shape was dipped dramatically at his return from injury but, since exchanging Lancashire for Nottinghamshire, he had rebuilt his game and limited a strong start to the season with a century against India in a warm-up match in Durham.
In the district championship he has made 642 running, with two centuries and four fifty, an average of 45.85.
“I’m sure he’s ready like him,” Silverwood added.
“He put his best foot forward in Durham when he scored hundreds and what he did at the start of the season in the championship showed there were many classes there too.” I think he made a very strong case and at some point, we might.
Make a decision and give him a chance.
“The second test of the five matches will take place on Thursday in God.
