New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar on Sunday said India looked forward to “working productively” with other members of the UN Security Council because the state took over the presidency of the UN 15-nation’s body.
Taking to Twitter, Jaishankar said that New Delhi will always be a moderation sound, advocate dialogue and supporters of international law.
“When we take over the UNSC presidency for August, hoping to work productively with other members.
India will always be a moderation voice, advocate dialogue and supporters of international law,” Jaisankar tweeted.
India on Sunday assumes a revolving presidency from UNSC and is set to accommodate signatures related to maritime security, peacekeepers and counterterrorism for a month.
India took over the presidency from France.
The Indian Ambassador to the United Nations, TS Tirumues thanks France permanent representative for the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, to direct the UN Security Council for July.
This is India’s first presidency in UNSC for 2021-22 his term as a non-permanent member of the Unsc.
Mastery of the two-year Indian as a non-permanent member of the UNSC began on January 1, 2021.
During the presidency, India said it would focus on maritime security, peacekeepers and counterterrorism.
India will also organize the memory of the peacekeeping memory.
