New Delhi: India is willing to collaborate with East Asian countries in the production of generic drugs and medical technology used for the treatment of Covid-19 and in the field of vaccines, the State Minister for Trade and Industry of Anupriya Patel said on Wednesday.
He handled the Ninth EAS-EMS meeting through video conferencing.
The Minister also said in a world-related and global world, there was nothing safe until everyone was safe, and India was waiting for the initial results on the journey of neglecting for vaccines, therapy and diagnostics in the world of world trade (WTO).
India recognizes that the international community has collective responsibility to work together against Covid-19 pandemics in the spirit of true partnership in the existing international framework, he said.
“India is willing to collaborate with East Asian partners in the production of generic drugs and medical technology used for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, as well as in the field of vaccine production.
70 percent of global vaccines are produced in India and our capacity to produce quality drugs and vaccines with quality Affordable prices are recognized globally, “Patel said.
He added that despite the availability of evidence and scientific literature confirming that the Covid-19 virus could not survive on the surface and package of food, exports, especially the export of Agri, from many countries including Indian restrictive steps.
At difficult times when the world has staggered under the locking and supply chain disorders, restrictive barriers created by certain countries added to existing vulnerabilities, which are not for regional trade interests, he said.
“Facilitating the export of important items and food products is important for food security and welfare of people.
India reiterates the need for fair trade, transparent, reciprocity and inclusive that promotes all interests,” Minister said.
Patel also said there was a need to recognize the challenges of cyber data and security protection arising from the growth of artificial intelligence technology (AI) which was unprecedented.
