Panaji: India, who has witnessed a surge in natural disasters, has begun to work on the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP) to deal with natural disasters not only in the country but in the Asia Pacific region, Ajay Kumar’s defense secretary said.
Speaking in the maritime of Goa on the ‘Maritime Security & non-traditional threats that appeared, Kumar said that India was willing to share SOPs with friendly countries so that other countries could develop their own strategies.
“Do civil infrastructure, military or double using our collective interests lies in environmental sustainability, transparent financing and maintenance of global standards.
India is in the process of making SOPs to deal with disaster related situations in the Asia-Pacific and we hope to share with all the countries that care , “Kumar said.
Defense Secretary said that India hoped that SOP would allow the Asia Pacific countries to develop together readiness to handle this disaster.
In addition to Pandemic Covid-19, India has been shocked by drought, flash floods, cyclones, landslides, and earthquakes with armed forces emerging as the first respondent.
India has also rushed to several countries assistance, providing rescue support and humanitarian aid material.
In September 2019, India launched a coalition for disaster resiliation infrastructure (CDRI) at the UN Secretary General Summit in New York.
The initiative called the nations for greater readiness to natural disasters.
“Maritime security and economic prosperity have been interrelated and interdependence for ancient times.
Increasing incidence of severe weather events – widely approved to become a fall in climate change – further requires collective strategies and support steps than before.
