The sinking of this burnt chemical-laden container boat on Wednesday increased concern among Indian governments about pollution hitting the coral-rich southern shore.
The collision site is 300km from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.
Indian investigators have been still keeping a close eye.
An official in the National Centre for Coastal Research, a lab under the ministry of soil sciences, which conducts and monitors coral recovery work from the Gulf of Mannar, said there is not any indication of pollutants close to the Indian beaches.
Meanwhile, the researchers in the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad, yet another MoES laboratory, stated they’d conduct a petroleum spill trajectory prediction version as soon as they get information on the first states and spillage in the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
The flame onboard the boat was set out after eight weeks’ battle by three ICG boats along with four Sri Lankan tugs.
ICG’s Samudra Prahari That’s a specialised contamination reaction vessel is standing by observation for signs of compounds and oil contamination from the boat
