WASHINGTON: India’s messenger to US Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that Indian-American doctors were a true hero when he praised the community to play a major role in a successful struggle against Covid-19 pandemics.
Sandhu ambassador, in his speech to the 39th annual convention by the American Association of Doctor of Indian Origin (AAPI) in Atlanta, said that “we are proud of the achievement of 4 million Indians in the United States”.
“You (Indian-American doctor) are a true hero who has risked your life and has come out to help others,” he said.
What’s unique about AAPI is bringing a global perspective to defeat the virus and serve the people, Sandhu said.
In his first address, Dr.
Swati Vijay Kulkarni, the Indian Consul General in Atlanta, described the Indian-American doctor’s community as a “largest growth agreement” from India-America.
In his remarks, he talked about many programs and plans offered by the Indian government to alleviate the suffering of the Indian people during a pandemic.
Kulkarni emphasized the importance of Indo-US strategic alliances, especially in the health sector, while showing Indian contributions that gave the world of quality medicines at cheaper prices.
The Convention respects brave AAPI soldiers and thousands of health care workers, who have sacrificed their lives in humanitarian services, especially during the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
“This Convention is award for those who have lost their lives and to frontline medical professionals who are at the forefront, fighting pandemics throughout the world,” said Dr.
Sudhakar Jonnalagadda, President Aapi.
Attended by Indian-American doctors from all over the country, this Convention was also aimed at several members of parliament, including the Congress of the Buddy Carter and the Congress of the Carolyn Bourdeaux Women.
