India has around 45,000 plant species, which have been identified and classified, which accounts for around 7% of the total plant species in the world.
About 28% of Indian plants are endemic to the country.
According to BSI, India Flora is mostly concentrated in the three main centers of floristic diversity, namely, Himalaya, Western Ghats and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which are part of four of the 34 ‘global biodiversity hotspots’.
