New Delhi: The boxing contingent bonded by the Indian Olympics, who are preparing for games in Italy today, will go to Tokyo from their training base at Assisi on July 17.
Nine unprecedented Indian messengers have been eligible for the Tokyo Olympics, including five men.
And four women.
Everything gave a final touch to their game preparation in Assisi.
The game will open on July 23 with boxing competition starting the next day.
The men who qualified was the world number one champion and Asian Games Amit Panghal (52kg), Manish Kaushik (63kg), Vikas Krishhan (69kg), Ashish Kumar (75kg), and Satish Kumar (+ 91kg).
This female troops consisted of six-time world champions MC Mary Kom (51kg), Simranjit Kaur (60kg), Lovlina Borghain (69kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg).
“The travel plan has been completed, the team will leave for Tokyo on July 17,” the official source told PTI.
The first batch of athletes from India will also leave for Tokyo on the same day.
The support staff who will accompany the team including the high-performance director of Santiago Nieva, Director of High Performance of Women Raffaele Bergamasco, National Chief Coach of Men Ca Kuttappa, Coach of National Chief of Women Moharming Ali Qamar and Assistant Coach.
Yadav is Mary Kom’s personal coach, who will make the appearance of the second and final Olympics.
He was 38 and won a bronze medal in the London 2012 edition when female boxing made his debut in the match.
Two physiotherapists, Rohit Kashyap and Ayah Yekhande, and team doctors Dr.
Karanjeet Singh will also be part of the supporting staff.
Indian qualification performance in boxing this time is very better than Rio 2016 games where only three are making the tournament-right, there are no women.
The country did not win a boxing medal in the previous game.
The first Indian boxing medal at the Olympics came in 2008 when Vijender Singh claimed the middle bronze, followed by Mary Kom medal in 2012.
Athletes traveling from India will face additional restrictions after arriving in Tokyo and having to undergo a hard quarantine three days along with daily testing for Covid -19.
But those who will go to the Japanese capital from foreign training bases such as Europe will get relaxation about the severity of quarantine.
