Indian-Chinese Taipei Asian Cup match named because of Covid

Navi Mumbai: AFC Asian Cup group AFC India match against China Taipei on Sunday called a few minutes before kickoff after 12 players from the host team tested positive for Covid-19 and two on injury.
The top source of the Football Federation throughout India (AIFF) confirmed the development to PTI after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) also issued a statement.
“Following several positive Covid-19 cases, India failed to mention a minimum of 13 players needed for the match group against Taipei China,” AFC said.
The match group that does not occur means that the hosted opportunities are eligible for the quarter-finals of the 12-gloomy bleak Continental Continental Continental.
The match took place at Dy Patil Stadium.
India was held to a goalless draw by Iran in the opening of their tournament and there were several Covid cases on the team even before the match.
