New Delhi: The supply of coal by Indian coal to the non-power sector has continued to be suspended while in the midst of a power plant in a country that graplaps with a lack of coal.
“Equipment for non-power plant sector has continued to be suspended until further information,” according to a recent letter India South Eastern limited coal arm.
When asked about developments, said an official CIL, “This is only temporary priority for the benefit of the nation to plug in the situation of low coal shares in power plants emphasized and increase inventory.” The company, the official said, increased production and an offtake steady.
Over the past four days, supply to the electricity sector is consistently at 1.61 million tons (MT) per day.
After the situation stabilizes, it is expected that in a short time, and the stock in the coal power plant reaches the level of comfort, other sectors will be brought back to their regular supply norms.
In fact, supplying the non-power sector during the first half of fiscal at this time at least 62 million tons posted 10% growth over the same period last year and 11% compared to April-September 2019 which was free of Covid.
Even because coal demand reached a higher tone of the electricity sector, starting in August, supply to the non-regulatory sector of consumers approaching 18 MT during August-September, recorded a growth of 37% compared to the free August-September 2019 pandemic.
Due to skyrocketing coal prices on the market International, consumers have competed for domestic coal, raising demand.
Instead of limiting coal intake, having a power utility filled with coal from October last year until February this year, as repeatedly asked by a CIL coal company, the stock position on plants would be better, officials said.
Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has been on Wednesday saying the supply of cumulative coal to a hot power plant across 2 MT on Tuesday and delivery of dry fuel is being increased to plants.
“Happy to share a cumulative coal supply to a hot power plant from all sources including @Coalindiahq recorded more than 2 million tons yesterday.
We increase coal shipments for further electricity generation to ensure sufficient coal stocks in power plants,” Joshi said in a tweet.
CIN expects to increase production after Dussehra, when workers return from vacation and attendance increases, the official said.
Indian coal accounts for more than 80 percent of domestic coal output.
