New Delhi: India noted the lowest calculation of Covid-19 cases in five months since mid-March, with infection of less than 2.6 lakh reported on August 9-15, a decline from the previous week.
Even though the fall, a weekly case in the country remained between 2.5 lakh and 3 lakh for the past six weeks.
During this period, infection has surged in several parts of the country with Kerala watching a large surge while northeasbal has seen cases up and down.
A small nail has been reported in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and recently at Himachal Pradesh.
Also, the pandemic is very persistent in Maharashtra, where the numbers fall slow.
In addition, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha continue to report 1,000-plus everyday cases.
India recorded 2.55,819 new cases on the week ended on Sunday, the lowest weekly count of 1,55,912 infections were reported on March 8-14.
It was 22 weeks ago, when the two pandemic waves increased in the country.
Weekly cases in the country have peaked on May 3-9, with infections swelling to more than 27.4 lakh.
Since its peak, the weekly number fell below 3 lakh for the first time on July 5-11.
Since then the number is rather prominent, with July 26 – August 1 week registering a 7.5% surge.
Meanwhile, the death of the virus continued to decline gradually.
There were 3,334 deaths recorded on weeks of running, a decrease of 5.8% from the toll last week 3,540.
On Sunday, nearly 33,500 new cases were recorded, the lowest daily count in six days.
Tally was 36,135 on Friday and 36,135 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, 421 deaths from viruses were recorded on Sundays.
