New York: In the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day, a leading Indian Diaspora organization in the US will lift the largest tricolor which stretches at the iconic Times Square here on August 15.
The Federation of Indian Association – New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will host everyday celebration on August 15, starting by unfurling Tricolor at Times Square.
The first Indian Day billboard at Times Square will be displayed for 24 hours, the state imperial building will turn on in the color of Indian Tricolor and that day will end with a gala cruise on the Hudson River which will be attended by high-ranking government officials, special guests and members of the Indian-American community.
Fia has lifted the Indian national flag at Times Square on the independence day of the country last year, the first time Tricolor India was bred at the York City icon destination.
FIA chairman Ankur Vaidya said the organization intended to lift tricolor in Times Square every year since the event had its own significance.
“We want to continue this tradition.
This year, we raised the biggest tricolor that was unmatched in Times Square so far,” Vaidya said PTI.
Tricolor will be 6 feet 10 feet.
The height of the pole is 25 feet.
The Indian Consul General in New York Randhir Jaiswal will unfurle Tricolor.
The event will also honor the Indian-American sports icon Abhimanyu Mishra, 12, the youngest Grandmaster in the history of Chess and Samir Banerjee, 17 which created history by winning the final of the Single son of Wimbledon’s son last month.
Young sports talents, both of them from New Jersey, are expected to be present on Sunday events.
Artist Jonita Gandhi and Mickey Singh will also be among the guests.
Vaidya said when India marked the independence of 75 years, FIA launched a campaign that focused on ‘Diaspora united in America’.
“When India is 75 years old, we have to change the page in the partisan community.
Our aim is an integrated community” which will be for future generations and future generations.
“We have to bridge the gap, unite society.
We must be a force in the action,” he said.
When the world continues to wrestle with Covid 19 pandemic and its newly emerging variants, Vaidya emphasizes that the relationship between India and the US will be “the most important and most vital relationship when we move to normal” in the post-pandemic world.
“The relationship between the oldest and largest democracy in the world will encourage various aspects of” from global growth and progress.
Anil Bansal, President of FIA at this time, said India launched a celebration throughout the year from August 2021 to celebrate independence and FIA for 75 years will also start a celebration on August 15, 2021, with a flag at Times Square and in the State of Capital on Rhode Island.
He said the Empire State Building would be turned on in Tricolor India and the message of independence day would be displayed on the biggest jumbotron at Times Square for 24 hours.

FIA also held its annual mainstay events – Indian Day Parade to mark Indian independence day in August.
The main US political leaders, lawmakers and leading members of the Indian-American community and celebrities from India have participated in the annual parade that attracts thousands of crowds in the heart of Manhattan every year.
However, like last year, the parade will not be held this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bansal also congratulated many Americans from India, who had been appointed in the government of Joe Biden.
Fia President Alok Kumar said that the Reflection of Tricolor India on the Hudson River during Cruise Gala would be a moment of pride for the Diaspora and the Indian community.
Founded in 1970, FIA is one of the largest diaspora umbrella organizations.
