Dubai: A 37-year-old Indian man from his colleagues from various countries has reached the jackpot by winning 20 million Dirhams (around Rs 40 Crore) in lottery draws in the UAE, according to media reports.
Renjith Somarajan, who came from Kerala and worked as a driver in Abu Dhabi, had bought tickets for the past three years, Khaleej Times reported on Saturday.
“I never thought I would hit the jackpot and always pinned my hopes of the second and third,” Somarajan said as quoted in the report.
He said this time the second and third prize was 3 million Dirhams and 1 million Dirhams.
Somarajan phone is now buzzing with a congratulatory call from friends and loved ones.
He said it had become a difficult life for him so far while jumping work with better salary expectations.
“I have been here since 2008.
I work as a driver with Dubai Taxi and a different company.
Last year, I worked as a driver-salesman with a company but with a reduction in my salary, it was a difficult life,” Somarajan added.
Somarajan will share the number with other nine.
“We are a total of 10 people.
Others come from various countries, such as India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
They work in the valet parking of a hotel.
We took tickets under the offer ‘Buy two and get one free’.
Everyone collects 100 Dirham.
Tickets were taken in my name on June 29.
What I say to others is to keep trying your luck.
I am always sure that my lucky day will come.
I am always sure the Almighty will bless me one day, “he said.
