Indian It Industry Revenues will see a two-digit growth in FY22: Azim Premesi

Mumbai: Wipro Founder-Chairman Azim Premji believes that India’s IT industry revenue will grow in two digits in the current financial year.
Throughout the pandemic, which sees locking steps to reduce the spread of the virus, the information technology industry has maintained the world to run and has also adapted to changes, said the premises, spoke to a community of Bombay Chartered Society on Tuesday night.
In accordance with Nasscom, IT industry revenue reached $ 194 billion in FY21.
The lobby group has stopped giving the estimated topline growth a few years ago.
The company will begin reporting financial results for the first quarter of Thursday.
“This financial year (FY22), I will not be surprised if the industry grows in two digits that are very feasible,” said Premesi, noting that even though the pandemic, this industry grew 2-3 percent and added 1.58 lakh new jobs on a clean base on FY21.
He said in a few weeks after the emergence of pandemic, the IT industry shifted to work from home and more than 90 percent of staff continued to provide projects remotely even now.
‘Hybrid model’, where people work part of the house or from the office, present a very large competitive advantage, premji said, talking about the model being discussed as the future of work.
He said the hybrid model was very inclusive, with benefits such as ensuring better participation of all parts of the country and also gave women flexibility to continue their careers.
“We have to work together to find out the optimal balance and optimal approach so that we strengthen India as the center of the world skill,” he said.
Premji said the IT industry was well positioned to encourage the next phase of India’s growth, and would significantly contribute to achieving economic ambition of $ 5 trillion.
