“We went to Afghanistan 20 years ago with one mission, and the mission was to deal with the people who attacked us on 9/11.
And we have succeeded in the mission,” said Blinken to the program “State” CNN.
“The purpose we set, bringing those who attack us for justice, ensuring that they cannot attack us again from Afghanistan – we have succeeded in the mission, and in fact, we managed a while ago,” he said.
“And at the same time, remain in Afghanistan for one more, five, ten years is not in national interests,” he added.
The Taliban made a rapid progress in Afghanistan using widespread violence because the United States began to attract its troops from the country on May 1.
