Panaji: Indian Navy Commemorates Goa Liberation Day and pays respect to those who fight in surgery to free Goa.
To mark the Jubilee Diamond of the Event, the Flag Officer of Goa Area (Foga), Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil put a bouquet of flowers in warnings at the Gomantak ins.
The honorary ceremony guard was presented and the silence of two minutes was observed as a sign of respect for the highest sacrifice made by seven brave seafarers who lost their lives during operations that caused Goa’s exemption.
War warnings at Gomantak Ins were built to recall seven young and dashing sailors who moved their lives on December 18, 1961 during the operation to free Anjadiva Island and the Goa region, Daman and Diu from the Portuguese government.
The ceremony was attended by the commander of the officers and senior officers of the Navy Unit in Goa.
The Indian Navy also organizes a 60 km cycle trip with Trigoa to commemorate Goa Liberation.
About 500 motorists included serving and retired naval personnel and cycling fans from Goa participated in the event.
The trip was carried out in four routes starting from Margao, Ponda, Panaji and Vasco-Da-Gama.
Criminal ceremony was held at the Gomantak Ins where Portugal signed a document of delivery 60 years ago.
Tinkesh Kaushik, a different coach of fitness who participated in the rally cycle, cycling for 60 km from Margao, was passed by foga during the event.
Kaushik is an amputated triple but has overcome its challenges with mere grit and determination.
