NEW DELHI: Indian naval boat (INS) Airavat came in Visakhapatnam on Thursday using Covid-19 relief items such as cryogenic oxygen tanks, oxygen tanks and ventilators in Vietnam and Singapore.
The trip was a part of Operation Samudra Setu-II which was launched from the Navy for dispatch of Covid-19 relief material from several nations to India.
INS Airavat embarked 140 metric tonnes liquid chemical oxygen, 3,898 oxygen tanks and 100 ventilators in Singapore and Vietnam, the Indian Navy said in a statement.
“The consignment has been passed over to several government agencies and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) following disembarkation,” it stated.
India was badly hit by the next wave of this Covid-19 pandemic.
With 1,34,154 new instances, India’s Covid-19 tally has risen into 2,84,41,986, the health ministry said on Thursday.
The death toll because of this viral illness has climbed into 3,37,989 with 2,887 more people flocking to this said.
