AllRounder named Rachin after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkarwhen Ravi Krishnamurthy, a software engineer, migrated to New Zealand from Bangalore in the early 90’s, a little he hoped for one day his son would play black crickets for a black hat.
Meet the 22-year-old Rachin Ravindra, Cricketer from the latest Indian New Zealand recruited on the side of the Kiwi T20 for the series against India after Captain Kane Williamson came out to concentrate on the test series.
A medium bat to the left who hit hard and the orthodox Bowler left arm was wrong, Rachin was named after two of the biggest cricket legends in India – Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
“Both (Rahul and Sachin) are two outstanding players – two biggest crickets of all time.
I think I started my own journey, I was my own man, so it was amazing to take inspiration from both.,” Rachin Baru- This newly said to the New Zealand website.
Rachin joined people like Patel’s peak, Ish Sodhi, Jeetan Patel, Jeet Raval, Ronnie Hira and Taut Nethula as Indian Cricketers to play for New Zealand.
For Rachin, it is a “special feeling” to play against India in their own backyard and even though he is “Kiwi at Heart, he is proud of Indian Heritage”.
“This is a very surrealist experience so far.
To see how cricket-angry everyone and how many fans like the game – especially the first T20, very special,” the children said after the first international T20 in Jaipur.
Rachin’s father was a cricketer and played sports in Bangalore.
He moved to Wellington and set up Hutt Hawks Club.
His father was a good friend of Javagal Srinath and the family still relate to former Cricketer India.
With Hutt Hawks, Rachin has come every year to India during the winter of New Zealand since 2011 to play long shape cricket in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Anantpur.
Playing in India helps Rachin develop all-round games.
Rachin made his international debut against Bangladesh earlier this year in the five-match T20i series, the New Zealand finally lost 2-3.
He was also part of the New Zealand squad that took in India in the final of the world test championship in June, but it didn’t get to XI playing.
During the ongoing tour, Rachin hopes to interact with Rahul Dravid, the current Indian head coach, and Ashwin Ravichandran, and get some tips from two game stalwarts.
“Dravid is an absolute legend of the game.
Obviously, I want to interact with him a little more during this series.
So if I can choose his brain, it will be extraordinary.” Ashwin is a world-class spinner.
He has got an extraordinary note and he has been around for a long time.
The variation is fantastic.
I would love to choose his brain too …
anytime.
