Indian-Tibet Aftab Pureval Major US City in Ohio

Washington: Aftab Pureval, an Indian-Tibet has been elected as Mayor of Cincinnati City in the US state, making it the first member of the chosen community for such a position.
PUREVAL, 38, a son of a Tibetan mother refugee and an Indian father, defeated his rival David Mann to win the election of the Mayor.
“Words could not reveal how respectful it was and I was happy to be the next Mayor of Cincinnati.
Tonight, we made history! Let’s start working!,” Pureval, who did not succeed in running for the US House of Representatives last year, said this after his election victory impressive.
AFTAB Karma Singh Pureval is the first Tibetan America and the first Asia-American Pacific Islands (AAPI) mayor in the history of the city.
Pureval, a Democrat, previously served as County Hamilton’s clerk.
“Today, AAPI victory funds celebrate Aftab Pureval’s historic victory as the first US-Tibetan Mayor of a big city, who has a brave vision to advance Cincinnati,” said the founder and chairman of AAPI’s victory, Shekar Narasimhan said the day after Pureval’s historic elections.
In March this year, AAPI victory funds have supported AFTAB as “the necessary progressive voices that have been able to achieve success with Democrats and the Republic together” in the candidate bandages mayor.

In a previous interview, Pureval told PTI that the story was impossible for Americans.
“I am the son of a refugee.
My mother was born in Tibet and she was forced to escape from her home country along with my grandparents,” he said.
“My grandparents, my mother picked up and passed the Himalayas through Nepal and to India where she grew up as a refugee,” he said.
His mother studied at MySore School and went to Delhi for college education, where he met his punjabi father.

After marriage, his parents moved to the US and settled in Ohio where he was born in 1982.
He has traveled to Tibet once as a child, but has often visited India, especially to Delhi to meet his grandparents, who died.
